Back to Vessa and Patty! If you want to read their storyline from this chapter in a row, start on p.221 and read through til p.224, then jump to p.233 and go til p.236. Although… if you need reminders, it may help for context to read what Scavina and Vangaurthe have been talking about, too… oh, you might as well go and re-read the whole chapter! What the heck, right?
By the way, I wanted to add that even though I don’t always respond as I should, I really and truly appreciate and enjoy all your comments! Thank you to all of you who take the time to say a few words, and thank you also to those who just stop by to read (I know how you feel– it’s rare for me to leave a comment on even my favourite webcomics). It helps keep me going.
Must… resist… spoiling…
Also, burning question: are you back to doing First Fridays yet?
Er… no. Sadly. I’ve had a couple of freelance jobs come in that have been preventing me from getting far enough ahead for me to be comfortable posting an extra page. Actually, that’s a good thing– at least for me. Not so good for the readership, alas!
ZOMBIES!
No, not really. I just REALLY like saying that out loud…
Gawd. I’m going to have to go back and re-read the Rautani attack scene looking for clues, aren’t I?
Yeah. Patty gets sick awful fast as the Rautani approach. Is that a clue? Patty is fine on <a href="http://galaxioncomics.com/1-comic/book-2/chapter-4/chapter-4-p-130/"page 130 and page 132,
but just a page later she’s not looking good, as the Rautani get closer, and then something is definitely wrong with her just before the Rautani attack.
Its possible that we’re seeing what is simply intense paranoia, here. Not sure, yet.
Well, as a relative newcomer, I’m very much in suspense and anxiously awaiting the next installment. Nice shading the first panel, BTW.
Wow, props to you and your attention to detail. I see the Miesti accompanying the Rautani here.
Ohooo. Oho Oho Ohoooooo! Sneeeeaaaaaky!
Mmm, Could be. But why isn’t he a little more specific about them when talking to Vessa?
But that would blow the General’s take on the situation away- unless she was bluffing.
Think about all of the things you know intrinsically: He knows what a Miesti looks like, what one acts like, it’s second nature to him. Just as a citizen of the Great Underground Empire doesn’t need to be told to bring a candle, flashlight, or torch, because the dark may hold a lurking Grue.
Most likely a lightbulb will go off in a couple of pages, and someone will point out that either A the home team never described a Miesti to anybody, or B the visiting team is not thinking sufficiently alien.
Or I could be completely wrong on all counts.
Since he’s actually one of them who was there before the Galaxion found that planet, he should know what he’s talking about- but he should know that he needs to describe the thing since they’re so obviously in the dark. I mean, ITS REALLY REALLY IMPORTANT, or its supposed to be.
But of course, Option #3 happens a lot around here !
It’s good story-telling. In the printed comic, this is the point at which the reader puts down Volume 3, hunts for their copy of Volume 2, and tries to work out what the Miesti are.
Ha! Good eye!
For some reason, this page http://galaxioncomics.com/1-comic/book-2/chapter-5/chapter-5-p-131/ keeps telling me I need a girlmatic login. It doesn’t do anything when I don’t log in, though.
Fixed! Thanks to the tech-savvy husband. (I would never have figured out what was going on there on my own.) That was… weird. But thanks for the heads-up, Stewart!
This page makes me feel like something is missing. Like I was dropped in mid-conversation. (flips through pages) ugh… this is what I get for being up at 1am
Well, yes, you are being dropped in mid-conversation. It makes more sense if you can read the chapter all in one go (or if you have an exceptional memory for week-to-week storytelling). But it will all come together soon!
…with the reader knowing the Horrible Truth and having no way of stopping the characters from making Terrible Mistakes.
Ah, I see.. The Miesti are the ‘butterflies’ we saw earlier.
NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! sorry, I recently discovered this webcomic and have been working my way through the archives slowly over the past week and a half, and am slightly annoyed that THIS had to be the point where I catch up… now I have to wait on once-a-week updates to find out what’s going on… (
But in all seriousness, great job Tara. I’ve really enjoyed the webcomic so far, and am thoroughly looking forward to seeing where it goes. keep up the good work!~
