Lost and confused? It might help to know that this current chapter follows directly on from the end of Chapter Six. You could start from p. 178 and read the next few pages (til the end of Chapter Six) and then jump to the beginning of the current scene to get the flow, or of you need more of a catch-up you might wish to re-read Carl’s story, which begins on p. 161.
(And a Tip of the Hat goes out to reader HardWearJunkie for reminding me that some readers may be in need of story guidance!)
Actually, while I’m doing Galaxion plot handy-hints for the page-a-week impaired (a constant struggle with which I sympathize), I could also point an early page from Chapter One in which the Myradi are mentioned in passing. It just might have some connection to why Scavina is uncertain about them here.
Dun-duh-DUUUNNNN!
Seconded.
That is exactly what I was going to say!
He makes a good point. How would anybody know what to look for exactly unless they had seen it before?
Now, if his skull opens (along those tattoo-lines) and a little ugly little crab-thing comes out with a ray gun he will have absolutely proved his point ! !
Wha…. how did you know that was going to happen on the very next page???
It was either that -or Colonel Mustard in the study with the wrench !
And because I knew Tara would not mention it – her birthday is tomorrow, so everyone please wish her a Happy Birthday!
Yay! Happy Birthday! Hope its a perfect day, when everything goes right!
Happy Birthday, Tara!
Happy Birthday!!
Happy early birthday, Tara!
Are we ever going to see a picture of the Myradi? I’m imagining some kind of starfish alien right now and I’m dying to know what they really look like.
yeah, he ask that because he is an alien.
Excellent question. And the top thing on the list that a General really doesn’t like to admit – that they actually have no clue. I think it may be assumed that it took a while for his world to realize what was happening too — I would expect it to be a biological invasion rather than a technological one.
Um, trying not to be too clueless here, but can someone please tell what the fiducial is happening in the first panel? Is this a “flashback” in time? Thanks.
The rounded corners to the panel indicate it is a flashback. It looks like the scientific team all racing down to the big lecture theatre to watch the action on the big screen.
It’s where she was during the Big Hoopla when Augustus made first contact.
Yup, Fred is correct, it’s a flashback. It’s a little vague– it’s supposed to be Carl’s memory from his university years, which is about the time when the first Myradi encounter happened. The people here are all students, congregating in a lecture hall where they can watch the exciting newscasts together. I can try to tweak this panel to make it a little more clear for the final version– the printed version in Book 3– when it eventually goes to press.
If this is a multiverse, and there is more than one earth, the invaders could likely come from another, third earth version.
If transdimensional travel is possible there, an earth version with a low tech and population level, would be a very nice target for foreign colonization. Something like the Europeans had done with America.
Hehe, i likeit how he starts to speak “terran standard” on his own, without Carl translating (if i interpret these talk bubbles right…).
Carl’s still translating. The word balloons are designed to show that, even if Carl’s not on-panel.
