I sympathize– it’s tough to keep track! So here you go: the REEPing they picked up at the end of chapter 7, and seen again at the end of Chapter Eight, was actually caused by Aria activating her panic alarm (mentioned here in Ch. 8). The circumstance was made more clear in a flashback earlier in this chapter.
So…. their salvation is in the hands of a man who is suffering from serve exhaustion, mental and emotional issues, and possible starvation. If he pulls this off he deserves a lot more than a damn medal.
Zan really is quite something, I must say. I often think him a bit of a git (a very endearing git!) But he is very quick-witted. If only he were more self-aware!
We need more Tuesdays per week.
