Well, dear readers, I have some bad news, and I have some good news.
First, the bad news. I’m going to have to take another summer hiatus. Waaaaaah! The freelance job I’m doing (for another educational book, this time for grade 10 economics, if you can believe it) is taking up a considerable chunk of my time, and on top of that the civic strike still going on in Toronto has wreaked havoc with my carefully laid summer plans. All those city-run summer camps I’d signed my kids up for back in the spring to keep them occupied while I get my work done are closed for the duration. I don’t know how long the duration will be (we’re into our 3rd week already, and did I mention we also don’t get garbage or recycling collection during this nonsense?), but it’s enough that I can’t keep both projects going. Unfortunately, the one I’m getting paid for has to take precedence! I wish I could draw faster. Having to put Galaxion on the back burner makes me very sad.
However, I do have some good news– in the place of Galaxion I’ll be running a fantasy short story called “Real Magic”, written by my husband David and drawn by me! This is our only collaborative effort and the only fantasy comic story I’ve ever drawn. It was originally published in the anthology comic Mythography (#7) in 1998. It was never reprinted, so I imagine that even my long-time readers have probably never seen it before (but if you have– you rock!). It’s six pages long so it will take us through to the end of August. With any luck my life will be back on track by then and I’ll be able to shift seamlessly back to the adventures of Aria and Zandarin and all the rest.
Thank you so much for your patience, and please join us next Tuesday for the start of “Real Magic”!
Well Galaxion intrigues me more than enough to await it’s return.
Sorry you have to suffer the consequences of that strike, and I hope you’ll keep that hiatus short.
Oh, and make sure that your economics book include something along the line of “in crisis times, unions should give back some of what they grabbed during booms.”
I had this comic in my favourites until I had time to read it. A few days ago I started reading and went through it in one go.
Really nice comic.
I will be awaiting it’s contineument.
Aw man, that sucks! Too bad the camp I work at is booked solid, or I’d refer you there (we operate in the middle of a park downtown, and since we’re a non-profit organization we haven’t had to stop for the strike… though it has made certain aspects of the job harder).
I look forward to seeing the fantasy comic, though! (Whoo, fantasy! 8D) Hope things work out for you!
=(
Hey, no need to apologize for the demands of real life. Looking forward to the hiatus story, and good luck in your endeavors!
