I just want to say that Vessa’s reaction shots in the middle are awesome.
Well, that, and I also agree with General Nelson’s decision. Hardheaded and cold? Yes, but, like it or not, her job calls for her to be hardheaded and cold, especially in crisis situations. I still think she’ll be pleased to see Aria and Zan again, though — especially when she finds out their valuable intelligence as to just what the enemy’s capabilities are.
And Vessa’s reaction shots in the middle are awesome.
I don’t think its particularly hardheaded or cold. As the General said, their priority now is the wounded, which Vessa can’t transport all the way back by herself, shooting down the very possibility of a search party. Trying to get the the natives to help is also clearly impossible.
The General’s decision is actually the only decision she can take now, since leaving a sick crewmember with scared people in the midst of an evacuation simply can’t be done, from moral or physical standpoints.
I thought I cleaned all that up! It’s actually the pencil remnants of the page number, (‘p. 297, Ch10p7″, in this case) that I inscribe at the bottom of every original, for my own reference. The date I actually finished penciling the page (“29Jan2013″, I went and checked) would appear on the opposite corner, but I Photoshopped that up properly.
I didn’t notice until HardWearJunkie pointed it out but I do like the way General Nelson strode right out of her panel. It’s almost 3-D. Nice effect and it says a lot about her character too.

Also, Vessa is privately really glad she doesn’t have to make the call herself.
Woah! General Nelson is so dramatic in her pose that she breaks the Fourth Wall! (lol)
By the way, stray sketching artifacts in the lower right of the page.

Thanks for pointing it out!
