Hey guys, we’re back on the grid! Actually, we only (only!) lost power for about 3 days, but it was enough to mess up all my getting-work-done-before-the-holidays plans. They were three chilly days, but we had hot water and we were able to go to places that did have power so we could have at least one hot meal. Thank goodness for wool clothing and duvets. Oh, and candles and flashlights. We lost one big tree limb to the ice, but fortunately it missed the house so all is well.
And that wraps it up for Chapter Ten!
Now, here’s the thing. I know this is weird coming after a week off, but this was always part of the plan: I’m going to take a month off– all of January, basically– to catch up on some behind-the-scenes things. I know this seems like a terrible cliffhanger to leave things on. In fact, I think you all deserve for your patience a bit of a spoiler, to make the upcoming month less stressful. Is that OK? I think it’s OK. I say it’s OK, so it must be. Here it is: Anna is fine. Well, maybe not actually fine, but alive, anyway. Why that is, you’ll have to wait and see. But at least this way the suspense won’t kill you! (Er, no pun intended.)
Happy New Year, thank you all so much for reading, and I’m looking forward to seeing you all back here on February 4th!
Even if Anna is fine, she’s sure gonna have her head ringing from that blast…
It’s only four weeks… *grump* Glad to hear you’re doing well.
Welcome back to the wonderful world of electricity!
And *phew*…
I was getting a little worried. I mean, having his boss die only minutes after he’s put in the seat might have reflected badly on my alter ego.
Yeah, that’ll be a bell-ringer for Anna and anyone in the adjacent compartments for a while…
Well she’s probably lost that red thing that was stuck on her forehead! (End of spoiler!)
Spoiler: it’s really just the Venga Boys, played really, really, really loud.
A pleasant New Year’s to you and yours, Tara, and hope your catching up goes according to plan.
First Girl Genius, and now Galaxion. Hrmph. I may actually have to try and get some work done around here.
Seriously, enjoy the break. I’m looking forward to the next chapter!
Girl Genius – best recommendation ever. THX
Quick–go read through all of Spacetrawler!
Tried it, funny, but a bit repetitious and I still prefer Girl Genius.
Take care and happy new year. I look forward to you in February.
Just one question: how come it blew up even though they took precautions?
Happy New Year to everyone!
I’m sure Chief Ito will be fine. Sure she’ll have to get android arms and legs but she’ll be back up in no time!
I am so glad I read all of the author’s note today, and glad to hear that you guys have power again! Been in a similar situation myself and yeah, ice storms are the worst.
Best panel ever!
Glad you survived the ice storm – some friends were off the grid for a week. Happy new year!
Hi Tara:
Just want to drop some lines to say Happy New Year to you and your family!, and also to inform you that today I’ve received the two books you sent to me. Don’t look at them yet because I did not opened the envelopes ’cause the mailman just got me when I was going out heading for work (yes, I work until friday, then its my annual holidays!), so I will open and look at the books, and read them from tonight on.
Thanks again. Good holidays for you and family!, and a very good year 2014.
Although I hoped for it, knowing Anna is fine kinda kills the tension and makes a possible tragedy into nothing more than a minor incident.
So does a head in a jar count as alive?
Only if you are a fellow Schlock Mercenary fan …
Did you mean for the “BOOM” to stand behind the two guys BUT in front of the station panel? It didn’t mean anything to me the first five or ten times I’ve seen the page (I keep hoping you’re putting us on) but I noticed it now and my mind keeps forcing the words to skew. I still love the page but now that detail explodes out at me.
*dives for cover from rotten tomatoes*
Ooh! Ooh! I can explain this!
There’s no problem. It’s just a matter of perspective. The ‘M’ is nearest to us, but smaller, and the ‘B’ is furthest from us, but bigger, and so it looks to us as if they’re the same size!
In other words, Tara has cleverly shifted the perspective of the scene so that the letters of the usually distorted BOOM sound effect appear straight and equally large to us.
Yes! I thought so!
Was in the ice storm in Indiana in 2009 many were off the grid for a month.. some places got reliable power back only when the ground warmed so new poles could be put in , they were on temp power and all that.. we lost 6 trees and a barn from a tree falling on it , took lots of damage to roof and all. but nothing major . trees were exploding under the ice load . when power went out here for 3 days all we heard was booms of poles or trees snapping.. Generators are your friend and we had lots of people sleeping over as were gas fired in the house . with the gen we did ok and so did lots of neighbors. Hope your warm and toasty now..
Tomorrow is Galaxion Day! Definitely missed my Tuesday morning comic
I agree
