Zan is about to get an earful from his boss. The details of which I shall leave to your imagination. Next week: enough of the crew quarters! Let’s go visit the engine room!
This is what I thought of when I saw the last couple of panels:
“And now, Mr. Wilder. we shall discuss the location of the rebel base.”
Haha! Leaving it to your imagination was clearly the correct choice!
I was in a similar situation recently (though with a somewhat less serious backstory). An earful can be educational if you’re listening, but it’s never pleasant. I really do feel sorry for him
Heads up on the next page, Palle. *conspiratorial wink*
Nice timing. Next Tuesday is just a few days after my birthday
Hopefully, he wont screw things up too badly.
(I’m now imagining my namesake eventually having to explain to Nelson that yes, I did mistakenly reset the influence area of the jump engine, and yes, that’s why the engine made the jump and we didn’t, and really, this would be easy to fix if the engine still existed in the same universe as us, but I’m sure they were sent to the right place, and probably TerSA or IP will find them and then launch a fourth mission to save us… eventually.)
I like how Zan’s expression in Frame 3 is across his nose. Gives him that puppy look.
Now that I think about it, this may not be as damning as it seems. She might actually be debriefing Zan for information that might change her mind on jumping for home. Well, as a writer that would be the way I’d plot the story. But then who knows what comes next week. If our talented author follows convention, then we’re going to see Darvin visiting Aria next.
Oh, wait. Tara said engine room. Well, there goes my theory.
“Zan is about to get an earful from his boss. The details of which I shall leave to your imagination.”
As long as the words “Permanent record”, “Court Martial”, “Flogging”, “Keel-haul”, “Firing squad”, “Drawn and quartered”, “Hung from the yard-arm” or “Thrown out the nearest airlock” aren’t used; he should be okay.
Mr Wilder, I grow tired of asking this. So it’ll be the last time.
“Mam, before we begin, I would like to point out that your record during your assignment to the Mars Colonies was much much worse than anything I did.”
From the look of him, he wishes they would just shoot him instead.
Praise publicly, chew out privately – sound leadership principle.
