Between the surprise snow day we had on Wednesday (the last time the Toronto District School Board declared a snow day was in 1999, so nobody seriously thought it would happen) and my daughter home from school on Thursday with the sniffles, I wasn’t sure if I’d have something ready for today. But here we are! Hopefully next week I’ll be able to get back to my normal routine. I crave routine.
Although my extensive backstory notes assure me it’s true, it still feels very odd to say that Fusella has only been Captain of the Galaxion for five years. Heck, I’ve been drawing her for more than fifteen years– surely her career on the ship must have been greater than that! But as comic time dilations go, it isn’t even the weirdest. Even if I just count back from when I started working on the webcomic in 2006, it’s been about four and a half years… but only a day or so of ship time has passed, in absolute terms, since page one. Yeek.
Be sure to check out the latest blog post to find out how you can get some Galaxion Valentines! I’m quite pleased with how they turned out.
Yeek, indeed. But, that’s not a bad thing; I’m absolutely certain you’re not the only once-a-weeker.
The Valentines are adorable.
third panel: “with it’s jump engines”, I think that apostrophe shouldn’t be there. “it’s” is short for “it is”
Thanks for drawing!
Argh! You’re right. How embarrassing. Good catch!
And now it’s fixed. Most minor corrections I leave for the published edition, but spelling errors really bug me!
I made a comment on Chris Baldwin’s comic, Spacetrawler, wondering why he didn’t have a link to your comic. I mean, you’re both writing a SciFi comic, have good senses of humor, been comicing for years, so you must have run across each other at some point. I was imagining a feud based on stolen ideas, possibly with money involved. ;p
To my surprise, he posted that he simply hadn’t run across Galaxion, and then he posted a link to you. So, I’m returning the favor and mentioning him to you, in case you haven’t run across his comic. I recommend checking it out. Thanks for the Friday update and continuing exposition. I, for one, am entirely new to the comic in its many incarnations, and am anxiously awaiting the return to planetside!
Thank you very much, Nick! As it happens, I’ve been following Spacetrawler for a while– I particularly like his colouring technique. I’d noticed that Galaxion had recently appeared in his link list, and now I know what prompted that. Thanks!
I’d not heard of it though. And now I do. Sweet.
Little Dee (his former strip) had almost the same kind of humor without the gratuitous mayhem as Spacetrawler.
But Supermassive Black Hole or A* only has humor as an accidental by-product and is mostly just straight-ahead mayhem.
The style is different and less polished but still excellent. He draws everything using the Lasso Tool in Photoshop 3!
Grammar note: The apostrophe (‘s) also denotes possession. You were right…
Aha! In the background, I detect a plan lurking in Fusella’s mind ! !
“It’s” is a contraction of “It is”. “Its” is the possessive pronoun. Hers/His/Its
Well, my vote is for “its” in any and all cases, without the apostrophe, and damn the rules.
I like your attitude. Do you want a job on Galaxion?
I love Fusella’s face on the last frame … not a happy camper.
I can’t help but read her first line in that panel dripping with sarcasm and dread.
