You know things are dismal when even Anna’s unhappy.
Here’s something for all of you who grew up watching the same cartoons I did– a friend from Star Pirates (you remember Star Pirates? The Galaxion Fleet is still going strong and we’re still recruiting! ) pointed out this trailer on YouTube. Now, it’s obviously been around for a few months so some of you keeners have likely already seen it, but since you all know my influences (heh), I wanted to pass it along. Given the really bad movie adaptations I’ve seen around recently I can’t say my hopes are terrifically high, but… it’s still kinda cool.
Happy Hannukah to those who are celebrating!
I sense that Fu has a Fiendish Plan… After all, she isn’t usually this cheerful.
What do you mean, I’m not usually this cheerful??? I have a VERY sunny dispostion! And I’m sure I have no idea what you mean about fiendish plans!
Well, the last time I saw you grinning like a Cheshire Cat before this chapter was… waaayyy back in Chapter 3, having lunch with Aria!
Yeah, well…. OK. I see your point. In my defense, though, since then, I have had to deal with…. ugh. Her. And she is down on the planet at the moment. What’s not to smile about? I’m in charge!
That live action Yamato actually opened this week, I believe. Japan Times liked it, if I recall correctly.
Even though they nailed the Yamato with cg fx, the basic idea is lost in a sea of dorky-ness.
The world’s last hope! All of those dedicated engineers sweating behind their control panels! Flaming cinematic explosions! Grim faces showing the correct emotions for bidding someone goodbye as they rocket off to certain death!
The actors are probably offering their humble apologies to all their friends.
It is still many scores better than “The Last Avatar”.
So when do we get to see it?
Mal has that “oh crap now what have I gotten into” gobsmacked look. XD Hmmm, I’m not sure just what Anna is talking about there. I didn’t think the ship was damaged in any way by the jump — is she talking about the encrypted logs?
Or is Anna just locked in an OCD loop about that glitch?
I’m thinking that in some way that I can’t possibly know everything in this story is related.
But that’s just a guess.
So that damned glitch and Mal’s being able to do something I can’t guess about it are part of the puzzle that needs to be solved to get to the other parts of the puzzle, I guess.
I think that just now I’m getting how good Fusella is as a ship’s Captain, however quirky she can be
at times. She’s got her crew pretty much wrapped around her finger, but in a completely non-abusive way. And she makes use of it to get her teams to interact smoothly, among other things.Ok, the rivalry between scientists and engineers is more about friendly banter than actual spite. But what she’s doing here is basicaly calling for a time-out in their little games, without making any fuss about it. And for a good reason, I suspect, for I’d bet a kidney that the idea she’s about to submit is of the kind someone who’s well versed in several domains without being a specialist in any of them can submit to actual specialists and turns out to be pretty relevant and even nifty.
So not only good social skills, but good brains, too.
Hey, another full page of plot on First Friday.
Thanks Tara!
I am really warming to Mal, and my gratitude for Anna being upgraded to the “main” cast with this iteration of Galaxion never ceases. P.S. thanks for the link to Yamato, you think there’s any chance it’ll get into the indie theaters in N America?
Bytowne and Mayfair in Ottawa, for example?
Mal is feeling really out-of-place here and the fact that he could be useful here surprises him a lot and scares him a little…or something like that.
No need to worry, Tara–SPACE BATTLESHIP YAMATO, while not perfect, is pretty great, and captures the essence of those long-ago programs even while reorienting some of their details in order to craft a singular two-hour film rather than a serialized program. It’s ace.
Going to build a spacedock?
Well, that would be one way to get them back into dock.
