This cat (whom I still tend to call Aslan, a name from back in the earlier version of Galaxion, I’m not entirely sure why I changed it in this version!) seems to have some sort of need to break the panel borders. It’s a cat thing.
If from the incarnation that appears in Spider Robinson’s “Callahan’s” series (with the Heinlein estate’s permission at the time of original publication, if memory serves), likely a descendant.
I remember that but just because it was designed that way doesn’t mean that it had to be KEPT that way. They could have easily made the rooms multi-person.
That said, if the economics of life support are not that bad there is something to be said to making long-range exploration ships comfortable.
Kittyyyy!!
Feed the kity! 2p a bag.
Must be a very well trained kitty – the cat food is standing on the table and it was not overthrown, dispersed all over the room and half eaten…
Ah, the cat can slip through the panel borders? Well the explains how it’s getting all over the ship!
Cats never stay where they’re “supposed” to be.
Panel borders are just one of those things that cats will defy, every chance they get.
Perhaps he (or she) is a descendant (or predecessor) of the legendary Pixel, ‘The Cat That Walks Through Walls’ ?
Eli…

Well, as confessions go that went better than I thought it would.
I also love the little insight of what’s it like to live in a cabin on the Galaxion. Pretty luxurious for a ship, of any kind.
As befits Galaxion‘s history as a rich person’s folly/yacht, rather than a purpose-built military vessel.

Well, as to the cat…the thing about cats. Is, I know some will find it hard to believe. But, cats walk through walls.
Cats have a tendency to walk through walls, so why not through panel walls?
