In some comics I really love when the creator plays fast and loose with gutters and crossing cell boundaries. But, in all honesty, I do not appreciate it in my hard sci-fi. I know Galaxion is really about the people, relationships, and story – not the science – but it’s still extremely realistic and hard-sciencey in it’s portrayal of how everything works. So, this sort of hijinks where characters interact with the medium, seems jarring and inappropriate.
…did Zan just whack his comm against the comic panel? XD
Looked like it was!
Not only did he whack the border, he managed to dent it.
Denting The Panel Border is still preferable to Breaking The Fourth Wall.
Especially since, if you dent it, it’s your job to buff it out, but if you break it, you bought it.
Which, incidentally, means he just bought a new wrist alarm.
Ha! I totally missed this. I thought he whacked it on the table.
Awesome!
Headcanon accepted.

My $0.02.
Well ….. yes he did “witness” it via telepathy but according to the significant looks between Aria and Zan they have mutually agreed Not To Go There.
Wait. Are those chairs closer to the walls than they appear to be, or did he actually, in-universe, smash his wrist alarm against the panel border?
Against the chair that’s between him and Aria.
Ah, that makes sense. Thanks!
