UPDATE 9 Nov 2015: We appear to be having website problems! Many thanks to those who emailed us the heads-up. We’re going to see what we can do.
Moving on to the med labs. Bit of trivia– the medic attending Aria has been around since the second issue of the old comic book series. It wasn’t until this current series that I finally figured out her job on the Galaxion. While she’s popped up from time to time, here is where she finally gets a name. Welcome, Lees!
I just want to say that I really like Aria’s outfit. Dazzling!
Pretty outfit!! Now I’m wondering (probably along with everyone else) who is complaining about their own attire.
I do wonder, why do they have to wear uniforms, it’s an advanced society after all I presume, and hopefully we’re beyond such things by then?
What’s there to ‘get beyond’? Uniforms make it easy to see at a glance what a person’s place in the organization is – in terms of both hierarchy and competence. They moot differences of backgound or class.
Uniforms are typically designed for specific roles, and those worn at work will be practical, safe, tough wearing, easy to clean/repair/replace.
I suspect we’ll only stop wearing uniforms when we stop needing with clothes – and maybe not even then, if we are still organizaing ourselves into complex commutualities of directed purpose.
AAAAH I WANT THAT OUTFIT
All these curved screens…reminding me of the video in this link:

The first thing that struck me: “She wants to be a mermaid now?” (Comedic effect, please?) It is pretty, though.
The second thing that I see is the chair has retractable restraints. That makes it a pretty awesome torture device.
I’m an awful human.
Are those retractable restraints or sensors of some kind or just different coloured bands for decoration?
They’re meant to be sensors….
I’m guessing someone wants everyone to wear Patty Hats.
Not just any curved screen, a hyperboloid of one sheet. But the lockers are just boring rectangular parallelepipeds.
There’s really no predicting what fashions will be in the next ten years… or the next century. I may think Aria’s outfit looks awful, but I love that their civvie wear is so authentically different!
