Well, we’ve lost the bellbottoms here, but not a lot else has changed. That collar looks positively painful. ;-) As I mentioned in Fusella’s retrospective, the stripes back then signified a crewman’s department, and blue was the colour for Engineering. As with the other characters, the first name came along first, and the last names (and middle names) happened some time later. He came from kind of a, hm, genteel background, and his names reflected this. It took me a while to notice how odd Alexander Anderson sounds, though.
