Immortal ConFusion was a lot of fun! Although I didn’t get to take part in much of the programming (as usual), the kids enjoyed the KidFusion and TeenFusion programming tracks, which left David free, for once, to take in a few panels he was interested in. A good time was had by all. Our son particularly enjoyed having his first opportunity to take part in a Dungeons & Dragons campaign– which, in true D&D tradition, lasted into the wee hours Saturday night. (Good thing he didn’t have to get up early to man a table in the Dealers Room.) We will have to seek out more of these fan-run sci-fi and fantasy cons that have topics and events tailored for the younger crowd, as ConFusion had. What a great way to attract a younger audience to these shows, something that has been a challenge for many established comic cons as well as the sci-fi cons.
That last panel, I read as: “All the section chiefs… even Grumpy!” XD
Poor Patty. Hope she’s okay. I’m guessing what the General isn’t saying is that Patty might be a security risk from her contact with the Miesti?
Hah!
Can you explain the numbers in triangles on the doors? We have “2″ on this page, we had “5″ on the previous page and back in Chapter 7 and there’s a “9″ on the science team’s coffee cups.
Sure! They simply represent a hazard warning. The higher the number, the more potentially hazardous the area. The science lab crew put the labels on their own mugs because the idea that their coffee is the most dangerous thing on the ship appeals to their sense of humour. If you look carefully you’ll also see that some wag went and hung a “10″ over whatever the actual number is that’s printed on the entrance to the labs.
COFFEE MUGS!
Sooo… the docking bay airlock only rates a 5? Strange.
No, it’s the coffee mug “9″ that’s strange. “5″ is the highest officially posted rating. That we’ve seen, anyway. There may be areas marked higher….
…but “5″ is vacuum! What could possibly be more hazardous than that…?
Oh okay. Just the science crew being snarky, then. XD
I would love a ‘nine’ mug. Any chance of actually making them?
I am working out a plan.
I liked the way you have significantly advanced the plot by jumping forward at least a day in time and backfilling later.
Okay, either she really does need to brief everyone, and Anderson is in because alternate earth…
Or Nelson has been compromised, she brought along all the people for backup, and getting the higher ups in a meeting together is because mind bugs.
I forget if there was an urgent reason to evacuate the underground shelter. I also forget where Khavis is.
I am enjoying this story. Thank you.
