I have been informed that GALAXION Bk 3 is ARRIVING TODAY! I am excited and nervous, waiting to see what the final result will look like. And how the 2-page spreads will turn out. And I’m wondering where we’re going to put all the boxes. Ahhhh, the joys of self-publishing!
But the important thing is, I will indeed have the new book for FanExpo, which opens on Thursday and goes til Sunday. If you are attending the show and have already paid for a copy through the IndieGoGo campaign, you are more than welcome to pick it up! If all goes according to plan I’ll have a list of contributors with me so I can check off that you’ve received your book. If you haven’t yet bought one, now’s your chance to get them while they’re fresh.
FanExpo seems to keep on getting bigger every year, so here is a handy map to help you find my table at the show. I’m at booth A-340, along with Crystal Yates of the beautiful webcomic Earthsong. I won’t have to fear the Daleks at this show, but this year we appear to be located suspiciously close to– indeed, practically in– the food court. The continuous smell of Convention Pizza may be more of a threat to my health than any of the Dr Who villains…
Paper hat, haha!
Just stay out of the shadows, Tara—and don’t blink. (Yes, I’ve been bitten by the Doctor Who bug; been catching up for a month and counting.) Wish I could teleport myself there to meet you…
Have fun. Sadly my efforts to convince my employers that I should go out to advise on a project in Toronto don’t seem to be working all that well, or at least, not all that quickly.
All the hats!
Sadly I am not able to come this year… and it seems it will be a hell of a good one this year. Oh well, keep us posted on your convention attending, with luck I won’t have to wait another year to meet you again!
“I brought you a hat.” Never before has a paper hat been so heartwarming.
The Captain’s eyes are very, very green. Is that normal for her, or is it indicative of something?
Well, other than me still settling in to how to colour her eyes properly, that’s normal for her!
Noo kitty! Don’t shred the wonderful orange-yellow hat!
Is it just me, or did the cat follow Fusella out the door…?
Is it just me, or do other people get the impression that Vessa feels guilty for what happened to Patty?
The greatest of hats
It’s a little disconcerting to realize how many of the main cast are white now that everything’s in color, although Galaxion is still lightyears ahead of lots of scifi for having people of various colors and ethnicities around as more than canon fodder (or just villains or helpless primitives–ugh!) and it’s very nice to have a few in important roles on the ship even if they’re mostly of secondary-character status. There are just a lot more folks with the same CMYK setting for their skin than I expected is all! But the colors really do look lovely and I’m glad you decided to give it a try. And glad to see more than just token diversity, even though there’s not much among the groups that have (so far at least) made up the major characters.
(no I don’t care that I’m commenting three years late because I’m just reading the archives now! and yes I am fully prepared to eat my words as I continue with the story…with salt and butter if need be! lol)
