What the heck is going on here (I hear you cry)? Try starting from this point in the story to catch yourself up.
Somehow February has slipped by (literally– I can’t even count the times I nearly wiped out on the sidewalks around here) and March has arrived. Of course, you know what that means: First Friday of the Month Update! Check back on Friday, March 4th, for the next installment… which also happens to be page #200.
I’m sure Fusella would love to call Gen. Nelson a horse.
I like how you have Darvin’s “thoughtful” panels on top of Fu’s rambling.
Enough rambling !
On with the amazing discoveries and revelations !
(Right after this hot chocolate.)
Staaaaaaaare. And geeze lighten up, it’s an idiom, they aren’t meant to be taken literally!
Is maybe Darvin in love with General Nelson? Is this the “love” part in your series motto?
I don’t think Darvin is put off by the idiom. I think he’s just using it as a cover for his true thoughts. Since he’s watching Fusella and not listening to her – well, Fusella is a risk for him that didn’t pay off. I’m not sure things are as over-and-done between the two of them as Fusella says they are.
The middle panel is really thought provoking. I hope we get to look inside Darvin’s head sometime.
I would totally agree.
it’s funny that as soon as she said “horse” the panel zooms in on Fu and his normally cheerful/smiley look goes kind of ambiguous. (I’d like to say sad, pensive, or suspicious, but it’s hard to say really.)
And I agree. Although… part of the fun is that we don’t quite know what Darvin’s real motivations are do we? He’s keeping good tabs on the entire crew, learning who they are, and why? I like this Darvin – seemingly nice person, but likely full of hidden agendas while we have FuFu cheerfully going along. Mmmm.
I think something deeper is wrong. He’s probably just commenting on the ‘horse’ thing as a sort of distraction from problem/irritated reaction.
I take it Darvin’s sad look in the second panels is in reference to the fact that lunch has taken about a month and NOBODY IS CONCERNED ABOUT THE CAT ANYMORE!!!!! That poor cat could be stuck in Engineering, maybe in a closet, making out with a tribble….. who knows?
As a side note, love the “devil horns” on our intrepid Captain in the first panel

Well, in Fusella’s defense, General Nelson does have a fairly prominent nose. It could be construed as horse-ish.
I’m not helping, am I?
I think the answer for this one is probably the simple and obvious…Fusella’s completely gushing about things always working out for him, and him being the only reason she went along with this whole thing…and it’s hitting him that this may be the one time his luck’s run out and it’s going to end up costing *everyone*.
