My, my, somebody’s pretty grumpy…
As those of you who came out to the Toronto ComiCon this past weekend know, I just barely squeaked out this page in time– much of it was inked at the con! I try not to let that happen too often, but at least a few of you got to enjoy a little sneak peek. This recent show was one of the more quiet ones I’ve done recently (which meant inking a page at my table was actually possible), which on the surface may not sound like a good thing, but on the plus side it meant I had a chance to chat at length with my table neighbours, Scott Chantler and Leonard Kirk, two excellent guys from two very different sides of the comic track. Scott’s upcoming graphic novel Two Generals looks like it’s going to take the comic world by storm (no pun intended), particularly for Canadian reviews, who are always delighted to see more CanCon. And although I wasn’t sitting anywhere near them, I was happy to see Jeff and Chris of Dressed for Success doing well there. Chris made me a cute little Aria hand puppet that I will be sure to post a picture of by next week.
Don’t forget, this weekend is Kids Read Comics! in Dearborn, Michigan! It’s going to be lots of fun with plenty of comic workshops and other activities (plus a great guest list) so if you’re anywhere near the area, please come by and say hi!
My, my, somebody’s pretty grumpy… I’ll say! Understandable, but I think the General needs to take a chill pill.
Also: Glom is a rather unusual sound effect!
Considering what he just told her moments ago…I’m not sure that I’d dare make the chill pill suggestion.
Man am I glad I was away for three weeks and didn’t read the previous updates one a at a time. Talk about suspenseful! :p
@Insectoid– I also considered “yoink,” but that was too Simpsons. Sound effects for me are just inherently silly!
@Tara- For that particular instance, is a sound effect really necessary? That’s more like an action in which case “Grab” would work just as well.
Can’t take credit for the puppet, that’s all Jeff’s handywork. I’m just the instigator. Sorta like a lot of what we get up to.
As to doing well… We did far better on the quiet day than the busy day. Weird weird weird. Nice being able to hang with you though, even if you stole Leonard from us.
I sense someone is getting more and more into a certain unpleasant ‘Jack Bauer mode’. The general is a quite fascinating character.
Careful, or Tara might pull up a copy of the “LCD” typeface for some parody fun with her wordmark!
As it happens, this looks like it’s leading up to something I just discovered – I found a copy of the Galaxion comic book, issue #10, at a yard sale a couple of days ago. Read it last night. Looks like the story is headed some interesting places!
Anthony, that’s a cool find! Now if only you’d found issue #11, you’d see some really interesting spoilers…
Agreed! #11 is totally awesome. Am curious to see how that plays out this time around.
Uh… how come you aren’t updating on girlamatic.com anymore?
Hi! Yeah, I’m sorry about that– there were issues with the Girlamatic site going down and not a lot of support for the creators (but not on the part of our hardworking editor D.C. McQueen!) that kind of got to me after a while. So I decided to stop posting there and concentrate on this place. But thank you for the reminder– I finally put up an announcement over there. I hope you’ll continue to read Galaxion over here at galaxioncomics.com!
