And that’s the end of that flashback. If you don’t know who Jeff is referring to in the third panel, that’s OK– all shall be explained in due course.
I had a great time at Anime North this weekend, though it has to be one of the more exhausting shows I’ve done! Many thanks to Steve Horton, author of Webcomics 2.0, Professional Manga, and also a couple webcomics, for sharing his table with me. My other table neighbour for most of the show was the wonderful Svetlana Chmakova, who really needs no introduction from me, but just in case you’ve never read Dramacon here’s me telling you to go find yourself a copy! Thank you so much to everyone who came by!!
I’ve let this one slide for a few weeks, but I also wanted to share this wonderful drawing of Aria, by Andrew Crisp. I see that Aria’s converted to the Science Labs’ brand of coffee… or is that hot chocolate? Thanks, Andrew!
I don’t know who it refers to, but I can make an educated guess.
By the way, what are those visors they’re all wearing? I think I missed them putting those on.
The visors are supposed to function something like infrared goggles. You can see Scavina putting them on in the last panel on this page, and if you look carefully in the other panels you can see the other characters getting ready to put them on.
Ah, infrared goggles would make sense. The necessity of showing the characters and scenery in order to not have just a black panel made me forget that a completely enclosed and powerless spaceship would be pitch black.
Infrared goggles beat torches anytime, I suppose!
Okay… so which Galaxion crew member is a previously unacknowledged scion of Scavina?
No… surely not…
Though there’s no colour, I can tell Scavina is blushing in that first panel. Reminds me of visits with my parents (good times).
I think it is Nelson’s husband or fiancee. Of course I have been wrong before, and it will probably turn out to be her brother, and he and Scavina were an item. Only time will tell i guess.
Oh, the fellow walking with Scavina in these past few pages is very definitely her husband, Jeff Nelson!
wooh! I’ve finally caught up! I quite like this new side to Scavina… its sweet
FUSELLA… *I* AM YOUR MOTHER!!!
Never! I’ll never join IP! You’re, like, so uncool! Sheesh! Can’t even let me alone on my OWN SHIP!
It could happen! Early marriage, early divorce… or adopted out and raised by Portuguese wolves…
hey tara,
just saw the link in the comics festival book today and got myself caught up on the webcomics (yes, all the way back to the first one on the page).
i have the helikon issues packed up in a storage locker somewhere, but i look forward to comparing those issues with the book collection that i hope to get soon – will it be solicited in previews or did i miss it already ?
otherwise, i’ll do another amazon order (always a dangerous thing, as my sizable want list always cries out to me every time).
@Nate– hahahaha! oh, geez….
@sentaorhung– the book won’t be in Previews because I’m leery of Diamond these days (I worry, for example, that stores would place an order and then never get their copies because Diamond decides to cancel the listing), but if you’re in Toronto the book is currently available at The Beguiling! I’ll get it to more stores soon…
Nice to see Nelson before she hardened herself so much!
