Long-time readers may wonder if this story seems a bit familiar… and they would be right! It’s more-or-less a retelling of the 9-page short story that was originally printed in Mark Oakley’s Thieves and Kings #16, and later became the prologue to the Galaxion graphic novel. Just as I’ve done with the rest of the story, I’ve redrawn and updated everything to suit the changes I’ve made to the overall storyline, which includes dressing everyone in proper Interplanetary Patrol uniforms this time.
That’s a neat effect in the last panel — the “chewed up” word balloons to indicate a transmission that’s cutting in and out.
Thanks! I It’s always so nice to hear, when you try this kind of thing, that it works!
I’m always impressed by people who can draw hands both well and minimalistically! I personally might be able to do faces or bodies close to a level that might resemble your Kindergarten drawings, but despite being able to do a still-life hand quite well, I find myself to be mentally challenged when doing them non-still life.
So, two poorly drawn thumbs way up for the little things!
Thank you, Skullbearer! Hands are always a struggle for me– I guess they are for everyone!–so I’m glad to know you like the way they look. But actually, I draw hands from life as much as I can, though usually they are my own hands. Often with the help of a little mirror. If you can draw still-life hands, you already have great skill!
