I like how you did the background for the last two panels. Even though it’s the same basic pattern, but just inversed, it gives the impression of icicles in the left panel (to go with the cold glare), yet gives the impression of flames in the right panel (and he IS on the hot seat!).

Another possibility is that they were killed, because they had been infected and attacked their own people. They had no choice, it was self-defense, they had no idea, etc. etc.
