You’d swear that Star Trek: Next Generation had “soothing alarms”. Whenever they went to red alert, or there was some alien creature eating Deck 8, the alarms would be screaming, the lights would be flashing, and everyone would be *sedately walking* to the source of the trouble. Sorry, but on MY ship, if that alarm is going off, if anyone is bloody walking, if they live through whatever it is, they’re gonna be on report — I want them sprinting, on the bounce, MOVE IT!

Red alert does not mean “oh, my what a nice time for a leisurely stroll”, it means “god oh god we’re all gonna die unless we get to stations fastfastfast”

What is this “panic alarm”?
Sounds like “panic attack” after which whole crew goes into “panic”.
But that’s not how professionals operate, do they?

Took long enough. I’m hoping the stuff with the missing cat pans out into something meaningful, but it’s nice to see things are shifting into high gear again. I can’t wait to see what’s been going on with General Nelson and all on that weird planet.

well for waking up it might work better if it was more like an incentive- reminding you of the reward more pleasant than being nestled in your sleepy-cocoon- like the aroma of coffee or chocolate !

Oh, man. I want a soothing alarm. Wouldn’t that be nice to wake up to, instead of the standard blaaaaat blaaaat noise? And I’m sure I could do with a soothing alarm telling me it’s time to go read a good book or have a nap. Aaahhhhhh….

the soothing alarm would probably sound different anyway-
on that ship I’ll bet there’s already a button for Foot Massage-
if not and you mentioned it you would have a line outside your door…. !

Of course it’s a panic alarm. That’s what you do when alarms go off. They don’t call them “soothing” alarms. “Oh, the Soothing Alarm went off. Time to get a massage!”
