(on a completely unrelated note, I’m rather surprised I managed to remember the html code for a hyperlink, considering I haven’t touched html coding since that class I took my sophomore year of high school (almost 5 years ago now).)

Their tales, their ship. His/her/their. The word is not used in Fu’s sentence as a pronoun. Although perhaps a better wording might have been, “They used to tell tales.”
