The first thing that came to mind was if the witticism in Panel 4 was meant to be a play on “Thank you, Judge Ito.” Hard to believe they’re still referencing the O.J. Simpson trial in the far future.
After reading the character biographies, I see that Anna’s surname is Ito even though she doesn’t look Japanese.
Heh, ironic that the private enterprise considers quality equipment a perk of working for the government. Rather the opposite of the stereotype I know! But it implies some good things about the state of society.
