I don’t know if it’s as obvious to you from looking at these heads as it is to me, but sometime in ’84-’85 my cousin went to Japan (as a stopover on the way to the Phillippines) and, knowing my fondness for “Japanimation”, brought me back one of those large anime photobooks from something called Macross (it was from the movie). I had no idea what the heck was going on in it, but it influenced my art style overnight. And then a couple years later Robotech came to American TV, and then it all made a little more sense. More!
